I can't get it to play sound

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I keep trying and the bar on the editor will move but no sound comes out when it hits the notes. I just installed it today so maybe its a bug?

the sample clips of the sounds work just fine but i just can't get it to sound on the editor.
I was just having the same issue myself (Im also new here)

What I figured out is that, you cant just add samples to the song editor

[*] Add it,
[*] right click it and open the piano,
[*] then click and drag it out on the note you want (you will be able to hear it as it you do it; so its not as complicated as it sounds)
It will now show up green and be playable

Let me know if this helps!

That could be several things, but i am a bit puzzled about

Do toy mean that when you click Activity light :

The vertical bar closest to the VOL-dial, you do hear the instrument, but if you open piano-roll

-and press a key with your mouse, there is no sound?
There should't be any difference..
Or... you have sound in both situations, but have no sound when the play-head runs over notes in piano-roll?
Then it could be that you accidentality have moved the velocity-bar to zero output

If none of these are the fix, then first restart LMMS and retry. If nogo, then please post your:
* Name of your Operative System (Windows/ Linux/ Mac) And subtype ('Home' 'Mint' '10.13' aso)
* lmms version
* lmms sound device chosen
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most important)
