I have investigated, and it is not at all uncommon.
Musescore simply creates midi-files that cant be used in all programs.
They (Musescore) are not really interested in proprietary usage of files in their midi-library, the only attempt to solve this for other users was some years back, and their 'solution' was to load the Musescore-file, in an obscure japanese midi-player
