Crashing when loading a project.

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Any project I save and try to reopen crashes. I am fine when doing anything else in the program, but as soon as I save a project and try to reopen it, it crashes. I am running windows ten, I use some free VSTs, and I use a Yamaha PSR 300 with a MIDI to USB cable. Below is a screen shot of what happens when I try to open a project. How do I fix this? Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help!

That is almost surely the VST in question.
exactly that behavior is seen with some VSTs.
What i would like you to do is to make sure nothing from lmms is running on your computer. It will after a crash!
You either need to inspect processes and shut them down in task-manager, or to reboot!
Then
Open lmms.
Now simply save the default empty project as 'anyname.mmp'
Close lmms correctly with red-X
Open lmms and use 'recently-opend-projects'

load anyname.mmp
Does that load?

No, I saved the defaults as "Default", and when I load that using recently opened, it worked fine. I guess it is a VST issue if that' the case, seeing as if I attempt to load projects I have used VSTs in using the same method, it crashes. Is there any way to make the VSTs work? Is it the way I am doing it? I opened the VSTs by adding in Vestige and loading the VST's .dll file. Is that the correct way of doing it?

Add Vestige to the Song Editor then use the loader in Vestige to select the VST .dll ? That's the way I've always done it.

It's almost certainly a specific VST you're using that's the problem. It's just a fact that not all VSTs work correctly in LMMS. So which VSTs are you trying to use ?

Steve
I found the list of tested VSTs, and I am using those now, and they work just fine! Before I was using mostly DSK VSTs.

That's odd.
Dsk Vst's normally work in Lmms, except for a few of them. :geek:
I'm curious.
What Dsk Vst's were you using Art Apprentice. :geek:

World StringZ is definitely one that didn't work. I experimented with a couple, but I can't remember what other ones I had saved in various projects that wouldn't load.
Aah! Those three Dsk Vst's.
World StringZ, Akoustic KeyZ, and Indian DreamZ
Makes sense now. :geek:
I can't believe those little buggers, are still giving Lmms problems, after 4 years. Lol!

Thanks you for the info.

Good, now you just need the best VST. Here it is: Synth1
kicker, 3oc, zasfx, afp and synth1
Is almost all you need
Its in the list :)
Heres one general tip:
Dont dl a gazilion of web-VSTs, fewer good ones, you know to the bone are much better than many you dont really know
