I usually use LMMS from the kxstudio repository, as it comes with a package called lmms-vst-full. Installing this package lets you have the vestige plugin in lmms. However, for me, and I'm sure for at least one other person, a problem was occurring where as soon as I used the plugin to load in any VST, LMMS would hang indefinitely, forcing me to terminate it. There is a very simple fix that I simply stumbled across on a quite old LMMS repo called irie. Simply open winecfg, and assign a drive letter to /usr/lib/lmms. This fixes the hang completely.
I couldn't find this solution anywhere on the internet except at the irie repo launchpad, where it reads: "Note: To use the VST support with Wine, you have to assign /usr/lib/lmms to some drive letter using Wine configuration (winecfg). Otherwise, Wine cannot load VST plugin (VeSTige)."
I hope someone finds this useful.
