cannot find VeSTige instrument on Linux

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi Gps,

I left openSuse and Arch aside and went on trying Ubuntu 16.04 and Magic!

The solution for future reference:

1. Installed Wine and configured it to Win7.

2. The instructions: http://nickhumphreyit.blogspot.pt/2013/ ... -lmms.html
look old but are still working!

This is the way to install LMMS with VST/Vestige support for Ubuntu and I supposed Ubuntu-based systems such as LinuxMint and Zorin.
Congratz, although I am surprised you need to configure wine.

Never did that on opensuse, wine configures it self, first time I run it.

I do notice that Ubuntu does some similar to opensuse though. you need to add an repository, other wise you get an old version of lmms.

Is there a deb repository that supplies the beta version? I am using 1.1.3 & too sacred of stuffing up install to compile the beta version
Compiling is not that hard, its a lot of work though.

Cmake from the top of my head if I remember right, will tell you what you're missing.
Hey, i'm using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and after months of searching finally got the right answer.
So im just going to leave it here:
lmms with vestige:

need to install wine

then: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:irie/lmms

then use winecfg to add a drive with path /usr/lib/lmms

drives => add (use a free letter) => put path: usr/lib/lmms => OK

then:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lmms

it is possible that I forgot something in this list because I did a lot of things to my poor ubuntu so maybe something else played a part but I think this is it.
