New to LMMS and making music in general

I love music with melancholic melody and have really gotten into Lofi over the past few years. In trying to pick up a new hobby and explore my creative side, I want to learn how to make Lo-Fi music. Downloaded LMMS to begin my journey, but honestly pretty lost. Aside from constantly listening to music, I have no other understanding of music theory or whatever. So question is, where do I start? Also, artist recommendations are appreciated. For example, I'm into BORNS, XXXTencion, Kid Cudi, Joey Pecorraro, just anyone with a sad vibe.

I would advise to learn some music theory. The good news is that you don't have to remember most of it.

LMMS knows a lot of scales, and chords, there is no reason to learn those scales from the top of your head.

The scale and notes used, make a piece happy or sad.
