Sorry for not replying. Thanks for all your help. It was due to the fact that I had installed LMMS through Synaptic So if anyone needs this for reference USE THE APP IMAGE as the project was a 1.2.2 version rather than a 1.2.1 that synaptic has.

Share the project? Maybe it's a problem with a specific VST in your project. lmms keeps crashing while loading things. Using ubuntu 20.04 and lmms v1.22. silently exits (so no error messages).
