Though I'm able to load the soundfont into the SF2 player just fine, the sounds don't play correctly. For most intstruments, whenever I hold down a key in the piano roll, rather than playing as one long continuous note, it instead plays as though a rapid series of notes are sounding in succession. ...
I think you'll need ipMIDI support on your computer for VMPK to work. Do you have that up and running?

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding but the Pan control, which is available on all instruments, in Song Editor and in BBE, does it for me. And all the instruments I know have only mono outputs. The mono output can just be panned left or right in the (stereo) mix. TripleOscillator and Organic have pan for ...
Uncompresssed CD quality audio (44100 Hz, stereo, 16-bit) is 10 megabytes/minute, that's what you get when you export a .wav file. Try .ogg for a smaller size.
Progress. Using a couple of programs included with a midifile library ( http://midifile.sapp.org/ ) I converted the file to not use running status and it now seems to import fine in LMMS. I created an issue on github, https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/issues/2741 , and with a little luck someone will fin...
Many thanks! I have no time to check whether the midi files I am using conform to the standards or not. One day I might investigate this... I can confirm that I can import the midi correctly into other applications. I had a closer look at the bytes in the file, and it looks like running status(*) i...

I'll be damned. Looks like a bit of a puzzle to dig into.
Hi When I import midi files (which are usually set up for several instruments/tracks, or sometimes one instrument with double stave like a piano or synthesiser) very frequently notes are skipped. I can't spot any pattern to *which* notes are skipped, often ones at the beginning, but not always. Too...
All PPA:s I found was rather outdated. Is there a actively updated one? KXStudio has 1.1.3: https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/+archive/ubuntu/apps?field.series_filter=trusty ...but I really can't say if it's a wiser choice than compiling. Depends on how much the PPA wants to change on your sys...
Let's see... first of all, your LMMS version is of interest here. What do you get trying this? lmms --version And second, is this the stock Ubuntu version or something from a PPA? Third, just to make sure, all plugins work when playing internally in LMMS, i.e. clicking the piano keys in the intsrume...
