GPS, Musikbear - thanks. It's not a messaging application in my case as I don't use them. I did wonder about other applications possibly somehow causing issues, though, so assuming the issue doesn't go away when I revert to a more mainstream distro, I'll experiment with running LMMS and nothing else...
Hey Brandy. Thanks. Just checked, though, and all looks hunkydory on that front. I did change the working directory from lmms to .lmms_wkg_dir (because I didn't want a visible directory cluttering up my home directory). I suppose maybe LMMS doesn't like using a hidden directory as its working direct...
Thanks musikbear - appreciate your help.

I will probably be shifting to an alternative Linux distro (although very similar). It's possible that either the move, or reinstalling into a nice fresh environment will fix it. Will post back here once I've tried that.

OK. Before I get into compiling from source - new territory for me - is there anywhere I can pick up a .deb package for 1.1.3?
I just picked up the version in the repository - didn't know there was a more recent version available. I'll update and let you know the results.

Thanks, guys. Your help is much appreciated!
Hi all. I'm just starting out with LMMS and have run into an issue: several of the instrument plugins, presets and samples work fine for a minute or two, but then simply produce white noise - taking many of the others with them. Well, not proper white noise - it varies from plugin to plugin etc, but...
