You should try out Sevish's "Scale Workshop" site. It's another good alternative for creating .scl files, and you don't need to install anything. It also has a web synth to try out scales on the qwerty keyboard.

Nice work. I like the flavor added by the microtonal inflections - I'm no expert on Persian music but there is certainly an exotic middle-east feel going on here. Keep it up! If you're interested, here's a bunch of approaches to middle easter / maqam scales, some traditional and some maybe a bit mor...
I just submitted a track for BOL6, finally going back and finishing something I had started over a year ago. Awhile back I had seen a video of "Rara" players on the streets in Haiti, and loved how they created those interlocking rhythmic melodies together even though most of the instrument...
If you like middle east flavored music, you might want to try 17EDO. Fun scale, and not very hard to get into. It's got familiar sounding intervals like 4ths and 5ths, but also has lots of those fun "neutral" in-between intervals that can make it exotic. (I've also got a guitar I refretted...
Yeah, that track is in 14/8 meter. A lot of the underlying bass line you can think of as 3+3+3+3+2. I meant to mention before... I've been using KxStudio for awhile. With the repo packages it was fairly easy to get LMMS+Carla+ZASF set up the way I needed. But for other distros/OS, who knows... Also ...
Nice work! I like it. Those occasional tiny intervals add a lot of spice. I'm curious where you got that scale. Looks like an odd mix of JI and 12EDO intervals. I don't know if you saw my reply on your other thread, but for using ZASF in LMMS, definitely Carla Rack is the way to go - at least for no...
I had the same problem early on with the built-in ZASF. I think I actually found some workaround at the time. I don't remember exactly but it might have been just reloading the scala files for each track before exporting - or something like that. In any case it was kind of exasperating, and I don't ...
Just confirming, yes you can use JI scales (or any other kind of tuning) by loading scala files within ZASF. Earlier versions had some issues saving/loading settings correctly but overall I've had good experiences with recent builds. From Carla rack you can load other plugins as well. For example am...
Hey thanks! The underlying theory with microtuning can become a bottomless rabbit hole (and really fascinating if you get into it), but really it's not difficult to just set up some scales and make some pretty cool music with just some creative intuition. I started writing a beginner tutorial a few ...
After a hiatus I've been posting a few tracks to soundcloud recently, and there are a few more to come hopefully soon. An interesting (IMO) feature is that I never use standard 12-tone equal temperament, but instead use xenharmonic/microtuned scales. Nonstandard tunings can give an unusual and exoti...
