When you first open LMMS there are tracks already set up in Song Editor. Triple Oscillator is already there on the top track. I can get the kick in your VST to work (LMMS 1.20 rc5, Win7) but it's a multi-output VST and I don't think those are supported in LMMS (or if they are I don't know how to get...
When you say "installed" do you mean opened a track with Vestige and loaded a VSTi into it? What VSTi was it?

Do the internal instruments like TripleOscillator make sounds o.k.?

What instrument are you using in LMMS? SF2 Player? What SF2 file are you using with it? And if you record some notes does it still have the "hint of piano" when you play it back or do you only hear that when you're actually using the keyboard? If you turn the volume on the keyboard right d...
The cable I have is strictly two midi cables (in and out) and a USB end. In the manual it states that I need a UX16 Interface in order for the connection to be successful. Does that make sense? I have used those generic MIDI-USB interfaces with many different keyboards including a few Yamaha ones a...
Have you ever seen the Synth1 manual? Because that's exactly how vel is described in there. "vel Adjust how much the amplitude changes according to the velocity of the note played. Turn left to decrease the sensitivity and thus the volume change; turn right to increase it." Not easy to kno...
Do you have a Windows computer? What version? First thing - for recording the plug marked MIDI IN on your MIDI to USB cable must be plugged into the MIDI OUT socket on the keyboard. Next - have you enabled MIDI in the PSR-275? It's a while since I've seen one of those but I think you need to switch ...
What are the differences between vst2/vst3 and 32/64 bit? Are there any changes in quality of them? No differences in sound quality. Some improved facilities in VST3 but not many DAWs yet fully make use of them. Another thing is audio interface i.e. for internal use in DAW, like Focusrite Scarlett ...
There's a guy over on Freesound who has a lot of good percussion samples. https://freesound.org/people/pjcohen/ His next sets will be tubular bells and timpani but I don't think they're quite ready yet. It may be worth keeping an eye on his page and perhaps doing a more general search on Freesound. ...
From what I know there is no real MIDI routing available in LMMS. Vestige handles VSTi instruments but only expects them to output audio not MIDI. But I don't know of any way to put anything before the VSTi that passes MIDI to it, so MIDI effects are out. The MIDI tab is for MIDI In i.e. external ke...
Both working fine here. Not all soundfont files support effects so I guess you're using an odd one that doesn't. Try Arachno from http://www.arachnosoft.com/main/soundfont.php

Of course there's nothing stopping you adding anything you like via the FX tab in the normal way.
