It doesn't need any extracting. The .wav file you get when you press download IS the sample. Just move it (it's probably in the Downloads folder) into the appropriate folder (C:/users/*YourUsername*/lmms/samples) and you'll see it in "My Samples".

Basic answer - if you can't download or extract the sample file you won't be able to use it.

To help you we'll need more information like what sample(s)? Where from? What operating system are you on? What have you tried and exactly what problems do you have?

I have a couple of MIDI keyboards and helped one or two other people with theirs. But I don't remember an Akai MPK Mini. I never had any trouble getting any of mine to connect to LMMS 1.1.3 or later RC versions so that doesn't really help.. All I can think of to ask is the usual...what version of Wi...
You were always going to get answers mainly from fans of LMMS in this forum. I enjoyed it for quite a while and it's certainly possible to produce some excellent music using it. I still come back and I still think the LMMS version of ZynAddSubFx is one of the best synths available anywhere. Eventual...
First thing, is it getting power? Try it in a USB 2.0 port if you have one, USB 3.0 ports sometimes play up. Try a different USB cable. If you're connecting through a USB hub then try it direct instead. The general fix for "device descriptor failed" is to right click on that (in Device Man...
If you can get the Casio USB MIDI driver to load successfully on whatever computer system you're using it should be o.k. But it's a very old keyboard so I don't know how well it will work with newer operating systems than Windows XP that it was designed with.

For melodies I think the timing and the intervals between notes are far more important than the key. So I start almost everything off in C (all the white notes). and then when the timing and shape of the melody are about right I'll move it up or down to where I want it. But that may just be me and I...
I didn't really understand the tutorial. It's an interesting tutorial but I wonder if it's not for what you want. What drummers call a "ghost note" is very different. That's a quiet note, usually on the snare, placed in between the normal accented notes. They are very easy to make just by...
In LMMS you have an Instrument menu containing instruments and a Samples menu which contains samples. What you were describing was samples played using the Audio File Processor instrument. And in that instrument the base note just means "Play the sample exactly as is" while the other note ...
With INSTRUMENTS like Triple Osc the base note will be an A. It may be an octave or two away from 440Hz (like 110Hz) but it will be an A. I'm guessing that the other things you describe are SAMPLES not instruments. And for a sample the base note in AFP will play whatever note the sample was original...
