LMMS is open source. You can do it and help us to improve lmms for all users.
You can move the pattern by click on it, hold <Ctrl> and move it to the right place. Then you can resize it from the right side. That's a work around this problem. In 1.3 it will be possible to resize from left. But at the moment there is no other solution.
Unfortunately we had to remove the changes to triple_oscillator. They leads to a bug which made triple_oscillator unusable in certain circumstances.
I guess you are using the sample track. Unfortunately it is a little bit broken. You can play the sample only from the beginning. Be sure the play head hits the start of the sample.

In the upcoming version of lmms it will be possible to play a sample from every position.

LMMS isn't named "Linux Multi... M... S... " anymore. But we decided not to change the name LMMS. It's well known and there's no better name for it.

Thank you for your suggestion. This is one of the top 5 wishes for lmms. But unfortunately it is not easy to implement. Perhaps we find a good way for this in the future. We have already an issue filed on github for this enhancement request.
