I'm transitioning from Reaper to LMMS and found a way to get a really nice, adjustable grouchy bass using LMMS and Zyn. Basically, the velocity only goes up to about 127 max in Reaper in the default setup (although I imagine there are probably ways to change that). In LMMS, we have a maximum velocit...
I loved using LMMS on Linux (Lubuntu) but was also having sound quality problems too with my Realtek card---I figured it was a driver issue. So I changed to Windows 10 and it seems fine. Are you on Linux or Windows?
I think the peak-controller is too fast for your usage. There will be 'clicks' and pops between syllables, simple because the signal is at 0dB for fractions of seconds. If Audacity can do what you want, i would not waste time trying to make lmms do it. Thanks, I'll listen for that. From a quick tes...
I just got VST3 plugins working in LMMS (Windows) using Element. It's explained here: https://www.reddit.com/r/lmms/comments/jkwefb/how_to_use_vst3_in_lmmsis_it_possible/ YouTube videos help too. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRGovm8ywbF49cn5FAm0maQ Tip - I could set an additional plugin folder f...
I just tried it and it does work with vocals. Seems to have lots of nice control as well. Looking at https://calf-studio-gear.org/doc/images/Calf%20-%20Sidechain%20Compressor.jpg helped me understand it better. I understand "Threshold" better in decibels. But it's nice that LMMS includes t...
Often I do spoken word over a soundtrack so would like to route all tracks (except vocals) to a bus and then use the vocals as a sidechain 'trigger' to lower the bus volume as it hits. This was pretty easy in Reaper but I'm trying to make a full move to LMMS. I have read tutorials about sidechaining...
Ahh.. thanks. Now that's an interesting concept... subtracting the effect. I had to think about that one! :)
I can hear the difference between -1 (dial knob all the way to left) and 1 (dial knob all the way to right) but would like to understand what a value of -1 means. Could it possibly be that the effect is fully applied but out of phase?

You can automate just one bar and then copy and paste that automation item as many times as you want the effect. You can do it with volume or with the EQ (top shelf). Add a bit of LMMS delay and feedback and you have a really nice effect. It's also good because you can change the wave shape per item...
If you understand the theory about swing, moving a few notes shouldn't be a big deal, so I agree with musikbear on this one. However, I also understand that it's fun to do a slider and find out how much swing you need that way. The latter technique, however, comes off sounding a bit uniform... the s...
