I had the .dll files in a folder at c:/programfiles/vst/. What I did was take the .dll files and extracted them to the /lmms/plugins/ folder and restarted lmms and now they are working. I think it would be helpful to have numeric read out of the Db levels next to the volume sliders on the mixers. I mean to say, I'd like to glance at each track on the mixer and tell what Db value the sounds are playing back at. This isn't already an option, is it?
