Although he is using albeton, we can do this manual in LMMS in the piano roll.

Change the velocity and move the notes a bit in time.

This does reminds me also of humanization.

Now I know how to do this in LMMS.

At some point you just need to put in some notes, and then listen if you like it.

When I started I hardly knew what I was doing.

Just fire up LMMS and click in some notes, you probably wont like, and that is a good start.

I know 32 bit vst work, not sure about 64 bit vst.

As far as I know this is because of wine not yet fully supporting 64 bit.

Although I am having a different problem now.

To answer my own question, the plugins need to be in the folder specified under settings.

For vst you want to use outside the FX mixer it matters less.

LMMS can't record audio and does not have time stretching.

You could record with audacity and then import that sound file into LMMS.

So it depends on what you want to do.
