Hello,

I'm Bat (since I did not go to the presentation page yet, but I'll go there soon !)

I'm running LMMS on a Raspberry Pi enclosed with its 5" tactile screen and USB powerbank inside a very small box and I hook up a Beatstep Pro to control 2 synths and a drum rack, knobs are mapped to my preferred LMMS functions (some filters, LFOs, effects...)

Pretty pleased with this setup since it allows me to jam anywhere... but, I was thinking there could be a way to make it "better".

I'm really willing to make a small and very simple MIDI controller (a few multiplexers, a pair of function buttons, 16 buttons+LEDs to manage step sequencer/keyboard, 16 RGB encoders and a fat MIDI layer held by Open Stage Control.

I'm trying to gather a small community of good-willed users to join me in my quest for the perfect UI-design.

Anyone ?

Gros bisous

wooo -This is ½ light-year out of my knowledge, so i am out with hanging jaw, but Its amazing to see how one open-source project, like LMMS -leads to new projects and new ideas !

Besides that, since you are new in Forum

A lot of FL Studio's users are beginner producers, so they don't have any experience with MIDI controllers and other production products.

I'm going to clarify some things regarding selecting controllers to buy, etc.

Novation products: The Launchpad and Launchkey controllers ARE ABLETON CONTROLLERS. Yes, they send MIDI signals normally. But they are tailored to be used with Ableton. They have functionality that only works with Ableton. They aren't meant to be used with other DAWs.

Basically, I mean: DON'T USE NOVATION'S PRODUCTS IF YOU AREN'T USING ABLETON.***

2. Akai Products: Akai manufactures their products primarily for FL Studio. I heavily recommend Akai if you plan on using FL. That said: One of the common issues with Akai's keyboards is that the keys feel "sticky" and difficult to press out of the box. If you opt to pick up an Akai keyboard, you'll have to "break it in" before you can really use it.

3. M-Audio: M-Audio's Oxygen series of keyboards are very widely used (especially within the hip-hop community for some reason, more so than outside it) and for good reason. They're very high quality and require some, but not a lot of, breaking in.

4. Alesis: I'm personally a big fan of Alesis. Their controllers work with every DAW and they're designed for general use -- as well as the limited space that most bedroom producers have. In addition, they require ZERO break-in, which is wonderful.

5. Controllers in general: If you plan on purchasing a controller, select it based on your needs. Need a controller that can modify lots of plugin parameters? Get an Akai MPK series, or an Alesis V49/VI49. Need a controller that has absolute control over your plugins? Alesis VK49. Need a general purpose controller? M-Audio Oxygen. Need a beat pad? Akai MPD218.

Know what you need a controller for, and base your purchase off of that, as opposed to just asking "what MIDI controller should I get?"

And don't listen to the Ableton cucks if you like FL Studio. FL Studio is good software. Not my personal favorite, but I mean... LMMS and Acid Pro exist. https://check-distance.com/

OK this is interesting.
You are controlling 2 different LMMS instruments from the two melodic sequencers on a BSP?

I can't get this to work.
I've set each sequencer to a different midi channel (1 & 2), and two instances of the BSP appear in the LMMS midi dropdown (20:0 & 20:1), but however I set up the midi on my LMMS instruments, both sequencers play on a single instrument.

I'm sure I'm missing something or not understanding something but I can't think what right now.

[I also realise this thread is 6 months old & Bat might never see this lol  ]
