SKA, how to get that typical ska rhytm

I am trying to make SKA, and been searching the net.

Found this great vid:

He explains very well were you should pause as he calls it.

I already had something up down up down up down, with the higher note off beat, but it was missing the real ska feel.

The difference with reaggae is small but its there.
Also watched some SKA guitar vids.
Interesting how they mute and un mute the strings to get this, up down up down up down sound,

Ska music. I was researching ska music last year, and I found it interesting.
Upon listening to it, it really does sound alot like reggae, but something about it
makes it sound slightly different.
I'll check out the vids in a while, and see if I can help.

Yes often broken beats.

I really like Madness, but ska is much older then that as you probably know.
Its always cheerfull though.

Edit: I think am hearing a ska version of the house of the rising sun at 11:42, there is something off though. LOL

The difference I am hearing the most is that reggae is missing the down up down up down up. Only the up of ska seems to be there.
