Dear all,

Could you tell me if the AKAI APC mini is compatible with LMMS ?

Do you have any experience on that midi tool ?

Thank you for your feeling and suggestions,

Best regards,

Wil.

is AKAI APC mini compatible with LMMS ?
Unfortunately, no one has tried that particular midi-kb, afaik.
The 'APC KEY 25' was reported not to work with lmms, but thats 2 y. ago
I hope someone will answer positively, but it is also important what OS you are using!
Hello !
Thank you to all for your reply : maybe, there is another product that could be mapped by LMMS : if someone has any experience on others midi pad module with LMMS, it is welcome...
Thank you very much,
Regards,
Wil.

Welcome to the forums Wil.
One of our Lmms midi users, called slipstick, might be able to help you there.

If anyone else wants to chime in, feel free to do so. :)
The answer depends on which model and what you expect it to do.

The following is for the AKAI APC Key 25
These are the main features:
* 25 Key MIDI keyboard with velocity sensitive keys
* Dedicated buttons for Octave Up, Octave Down, and Sustain
* Eight control knobs laid out on 2 rows with 4 control knobs in each row
* Pads: 5x8 clip-launching grid

The 25 Key MIDI keyboard can be used just like other MIDI keyboards. I'm running Debian Linux 9.6 amd64 with LMMS 1.1.3 and use ALSA-Sequencer MIDI interface option as per these instructions
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Using_MIDI

Once the keyboard is working, then Octave Up and Octave Down work as expected (need to re-check sustain).
The eight control knobs can be mapped to the controls on the instrument plugin.

The 5x8 clip-launching grid is quite limited in LMMS. The grid is laid out in 5 rows and 8 columns. The far left pad on the bottom row appears to correspond to MIDI 0 and the far right pad on the top row appears to map to MIDI 39 which corresponds to D#2/Eb2. These pads are not velocity sensitive, so perhaps not as useful in LMMS as having a keyboard with more keys.

To get the full use of these pads you'd need Ableton Live or some other software with pad support, but the APC Key 25 is still quite usable as a simple MIDI keyboard.

If not, can you point me to a net-link ?

-We now have a list: https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Us ... _keyboards

And as you can see there the "AKAI APC Key 25" is listed as "AKAI Professional LPK25 " -if indeed it is the same...

Besides that, since you are new in Forum

Hi musikBear, I can confirm that my AKAI APC Key 25 is one in the picture above.

More info here:
http://www.akaipro.com/products/keyboar ... apc-key-25
http://www.akaipro.com/support/kb/artic ... -questions

As mentioned, the APC Key 25 MIDI keyboard is working, as are the eight control knobs and the buttons for Octave Up and Octave Down. For LMMS users, the 5x8 clip-launching grid might not as useful as it is with Ableton Live, but people who have the APC Key 25 can use this keyboard for LMMS.

The AKAI Professional LPK25 mentioned in the wiki appears to be a different keyboard and most likely it refers to this one:

Taking a look at the current wiki page, there are several AKAI Keyboards (corrected spelling below) listed:
Akai mpk mini II On Windows (convoluted installing -propl. caused by drumpad
AKAI Professional LPK25 On Windows Vista Home SP2
AKAI professional MPK mini MKII On Windows 10 Home
I'm almost certain these two entries are the same keyboard.

* Akai mpk mini II On Windows
* AKAI professional MPK mini MKII On Windows 10 Home

If this is correct we have three confirmed keyboards in the AKAI professional series:

AKAI MPK mini MkII

AKAI LPK25

AKAI APC Key 25

Yes. And that is good. Without guarantee, it is a fair guess, that AKAI kb's works with LMMS
