What makes this sound

Hello all,

I have seen before other users posting requests of how to achieve a certain sound from a track they like.

There is a sound that is fairly old skool and has a real edge to it i would like to recreate, check the sound in this track starting at 0:57 seconds,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwjL9RrcLdw

I have a feeling it is some sort of choir or vocal that has been distorted but i could be totally wrong.

Any ideas anyone?
I daren't watch youTube at work - but I thought I'd share this:

I dunno the name of the song, but it's the Opening Theme of "Bojack Horseman". I pondered for a long time how the HELL someone made that weird sound. Then, while playing with what I could do with samples in LMMS, I noticed the button for "reverse". Bells went off. Of course! It's just a "boooiingggg" sound backwards! Something to keep in mind.

Thanks for your reply, i use the reverse method quite often as it happens, a 'Tom Tom' reversed gives a great sound ;)

Anyone else have any idea on the edgy sound in the video i posted at 0:57 seconds.
Sounds to me like a (not sure what to call it) "record scratch" that's been pitch-bent downward.

It is indeed 'scratching' -Really big thing in the 80' !!!
MalcomMc-Donald had a track where chicks said "all that scratching make me itch"
Instant success..
:p
You can find VSTs that can do it, ( I just cant remember the bloo... name:| ..8 different 'effect-options' and very hard to the eye UI -Like a rainbow fatality.....)
-but i also described how to do the simplest scratch -Tape-stop
here in this video, with pure LMMS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYZYjwwZuDM
To 'scratch' you would then need to reverse the stop and maby do it twice

Thanks for this also, if you recall the VST at any time, just throw it in here.
