Daft punk makes disco or at least tracks that are very close to disco, so you're hearing that right. :)
Its 70 ties music.

The original version of thinking of you ( disco ):

vs the house version.

Notice the house version to be more loop like, a bit faster and the percussion to be louder. :)

Thinking of you is from the famous Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.
Dude! Thanks for telling me that.
When I listened to it, I was saying to myself, where the heck did I hear that Thinking of you song before. And then you posted the 70's version, and I remembered the tune. :geek:

The younger people who might think nile who ?

Daft Punk - Get Lucky
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5EofwRzit0

Nile Rdgers, the guy with the dreadlocks. :)

Nile Rodgers, made the bassline that turned into the first ? big rap hit,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKTUAESacQM

The loop is from the break of a track made by Nile Rodgers for Chic.

Chic - good Times. They did not sample it, the sugar hill gang had their bassplayer play that bassline.

And gut sued over it, but here are friends now.

They even performed together:

1min 30 the break, were the rappers join.

I am a big fan of Nile Rodgers, but you might have guessed that already.
I love Funk Disco, so I do like Daft punk - get lucky.
Ahhhh. :D
I always wondered, "why the heck does the music in sugar hill gangs song, and that chic good times song, sound so similar?" So your answer, answers a question I was wondering for a long time now.

Wait, one of them sued and now they're friends? Lol!

Yeah. Unfortunately, I am one of those youngish people, who had no idea who Nile Rodgers is. But I did hear the name a few times though. :P

It makes sense that you like Daft Punk, because their music sounds like good ol' funk and disco. :)

And yeah, Daft Punk is a nice music group. I like their one more time song too. :D
You Probably know this track too.

Sheila B & the black devotion - Spacer
This track was written by Nile Rodgers for Chic, but Chic did not want to perform it.
So they went looking for somebody else.

I heard this one play, on the radio a few times.
This one sounds, like a mix of 70's and early 80's music.
I will admit, blending those two styles together, really gives this tune, a special sound to it.

Also, it kinda reminds of a song, that I thought was a late 90's song, but was actually an early 80's song, called Cruel Summer by a band called Bananarama. I had to google to find out the name of the band. :P
Lol, I do know that track.
Yeah. It's a really catchy summer tune.

maybe you recall it from that Alcazar song from a decade ago?

if it sounds familiar then check that whosampled? site.

you'll be amazed what you find in some tracks with samples going back to the 50s for some riffs.

https://www.whosampled.com/sample/1454/ ... on-Spacer/

going back to the topic...

as LMMS new user and utter noob I'm intreged by the house piano sound and never found out how to recreate it as it sounds in the previous listed tracks.

And this also counts for some really old tracks where the sound is sounding a lot more 'full" than what I can found in thousands of Synth1 and other synth VSTs presets.

Here's an example (the main chord or stab or whatever they call it you hear at the start)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRRuowaAgQE

(upspeeded commercial version also from Frank De Wulf > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGX8EOH82pc )

What's the trick they used on this?
This topic is me asking for help about house.

If you want help too, you should start a new topic.

How do I create this sound, would be a good topic title.

That sound is not a piano.

Interesting!

But Gps is correct when he ask you to post your own inquiries in a separate topic, what you do here is called 'kidnapping/ hijacking a topic -Dont do that :)

Make a new topic in Production Help with something like this

Code: Select all

as LMMS new user and utter noob I'm intreged by the house piano sound and never found out how to recreate it as it sounds in the previous listed tracks.

BUT! Observe i added to placeholders for timestamps. They are important when you ask for help on a specific sound in a video

ok, too bad you're so picky, GPS.

you talk about house and I ask a question about it aswell and it's not permitted?

weird 'discussion' forum :)

I'll copy/paste it into a new thread then.

MusicBear: "that you hear at the start" means 0:00 ;) Thanks for the welcoming.

Not permitted, is a big word. You're question how ever on how to create a certain sound, has nothing to do with what this topic is about.

It's about what kind of loops and song arrangement make a house record. :)
