I saw you found GO2 on my soundcloud, and yes quite happy about it.

Did you know Moby borrowed / stole / got inspired for the strings in the intro part by a twin peaks track ?

Busted, because this came before Go:

About Dig it, thank you.
Not sure if the piano can be louder. Last night had a listen and found a problem. ( because of something musicbear said.)
The piano is totally over powering the off beat bassline. :(
For house this is a problem, because the bass line and drums need to be very ( most ) present, not the lead sound as in most music..

There needs to be a groove, and all else is only to hide its damn repetitive :P

Its not that we don't agree though. That piano louder was my first thought too.
But a forum called linux musicians told me to make the piano less loud, because it was louder then the drums and base.
It's possible I over did it though, because they have not heard this version yet, the version you commented on. :)

What I like about that forum is the type of feedback I get there.
They start to talk about saturation, compressors and that I need to use a spectrum analyser.

I used a saturate plugin on the vocal sample and that helped allot.

I also fell in love with the calf side chain compressor. Not for the obvious reason to have one sound duck, but because of that one dial, were you can make the sound you're pushing away louder.

That Linux forum might be less interesting for windows users, but linux LMMS users might find it usefull.
Some there take making music and mixing very serious, and some feedback I get there often ends with me googling, to find out what they are talking about. :P

Some also want met to not use LMMS but a real Daw.
Some don't consider lmms a real daw because it can't record live played music.

This argument is for me not relevant though. LMMS can record midi and that all I need. :)
And they still have failed to explain why I need to use a different daw.

Maybe one day I will switch, but only if LMMS becomes the limiting factor. If I find stuff I can't do with LMMS, that I can do with lets say ardour.

I also know a LMMS user , who kind of switched to Ardour.
Watch his you tube vids about lmms, great info there also for windows users. ( unfa )

In this vid he compares the two.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5vCpFHmRSY

Some also seem to make a track in LMMS, and then mix / master it in Ardour.
Ardour can't import lmms files though, so I am not sure yet on how they do this.
Import the midi data or import sound files, from the export function of LMMS.

In ardour you can automate all of zynaddsubfx though.

I am for now just waiting for lmms to do have lv2 support :)
I might be more optimistic then unfa on this.
( and automation on anything zasfx )

For me neither!

must be based on exported MIDI. I wonder whay they feel that LMMS is inferior in respect to mixing :|

..yea
Its kind of ironic, that zasfx went from being the generator that had the highest degree of tweak-options in LMMS, to actually being most inferior. If only a VSTs version of zasfx did comply to the VST-standard, then we could use it as VST in LMMS.
(-dont waste time trying the zasfx.vst version, it is not working)

Interesting stuf about moby -i believe he has several issues just like that one, and is kind of a tricker to the controversy around sampling in general
For this forums there is one serious problems with ardour.

There is no supported windows easy install version as far as I understand things.
Because its opensource though, you are free to compile it you're self on Windows. lol

From my experience on Linux with compiling programs like this only experienced windows users should try this.
People who do know windows has like Linux a command line.

The devs also state on their site, Ardour is written cross platform, so compiling on windows should be possible.
And if you can find a few people with time, that are willing to do the windows part, you can contact them. :P

I think there is a you tube vid about moby and lets stay positive, about the music that inspired him.
Will have a look if I can find it.

Not being able to automate zasfx is for me also a big disappointment.
Tried a windows vst of zasfx I found, and although it did work, it had the same problem, I could not automate it.

I am starting to become more happy, as it being a House track, at least I think so. :P
Would like opinions on that though.

I think that piano sounding melody, should be a bit louder. :geek:
Balancing the volumes, of the bass and the piano melody, might be kinda tough though.
So try your best. :)
I dove into the Calf side chain compressor, and turned up the gain knob a bit. The piano should now be a bit louder. :)

Yep. That is very true.
But what I found interesting, is that Crystal Waters - Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless) song, kinda contradicts that. Besides the singers voice, and the kick sound being predominant, the cool famous house piano melody stands out, and is kinda predominant in that tune. Like literally. 8-)
I am not sure if I would call that house though.

House is to me more disco / funk / soul like. That how it started in clubs, funk-disco records mixed with a drum computer to spice up the drums.

Compared it to this, what I think is house :)

David Morales - Needin U (Club Mix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoS4qDqjAXw
The kick is very present. :) And there is that loud hi hat again too. :P

And this one:
Byron Stingily - Get Up! (Mousse T. Extended Mix)
Loud hi hat, very prominent bass.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex04Q5pPoT0

Or this one, the vocals are not really dominant the groove is though. :)
Solitaire - I´m Thinking Of You (Extended Club Mix)

Wow! I just listened to all three tracks.

David Morales - Needin U (Club Mix) track, sounds alot like 70's type music.

Byron Stingily - Get Up! (Mousse T. Extended Mix) sounds like a mix of 70's music, and late 80's dance music. I will admit, this one also kinda sounds a bit, like the Crystal Waters song, I linked above, with a mix of CNC music factory style music, thrown into it as well.

Solitaire - I´m Thinking Of You (Extended Club Mix)
Something about this one, reminds me a bit of Daft Punk.
Strangely, I like this one. 8-)
Daft punk makes disco or at least tracks that are very close to disco, so you're hearing that right. :)
Its 70 ties music.

The original version of thinking of you ( disco ):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de4_vbntd50

vs the house version.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97hk5i7dy6Q

Notice the house version to be more loop like, a bit faster and the percussion to be louder. :)

Thinking of you is from the famous Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.

The younger people who might think nile who ?

Daft Punk - Get Lucky
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5EofwRzit0

Nile Rdgers, the guy with the dreadlocks. :)

Nile Rodgers, made the bassline that turned into the first ? big rap hit,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKTUAESacQM

The loop is from the break of a track made by Nile Rodgers for Chic.

Chic - good Times. They did not sample it, the sugar hill gang had their bassplayer play that bassline.

And gut sued over it, but here are friends now.

They even performed together:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtVhIQ4e9fo

1min 30 the break, were the rappers join.

I am a big fan of Nile Rodgers, but you might have guessed that already.
I love Funk Disco, so I do like Daft punk - get lucky.
Nice Vid I stumbled upon.

The ingredients of a classic house track

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrqIA0PpAv8

They also talk about the death of disco. ( If that had worked, we would not have EDM now :P )

To Quote Frankie Kuckles.

House = Disco's revenge. :P

What also makes me smile, that I now finally know why the vocal part of right on time, sounds so familiar.
