Long story short, I don't have much experience with composing music and I'm trying to compose my First ever song with LMMS.
it's not a song wit lyrics though. It's more of a background music.

I'm basically trying to recreate this: https://soundcloud.com/joe-partyboy-win ... me/s-DTvk5
(try to ignore the sound effects in it).

I'm not making money off of it though. I'm using it for a video blog/documentary I'm putting together about this deadly tornado that hit 100 years ago, and i was going to use that tune to play in the background while i show footage of a CGI tornado moving over the area.

Think of it as more of an "evil marching tune" really... I didn't want it to sound too intense/dramatic but I mostly wanted it to sound eerie and very menacing really in a mild way.

I actually have already figured out to keys/melody/notes behind the tune though. Here's a video of me playing it on a piano:

^I was playing it really slowly there (I want it to be faster when I finally finish it) but that's the tune i'm trying to play.

I seen a tutorial video on how to use LMMS and so far this is what I have down for it in LMMS:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzQQwxWy8C4

It's obviously not complete yet. I used a trumpet instrument/sample for it, but i'm starting to wonder if in the original it's actually a violin or a violin and a trumpet overlapped. I plan on speeding the tempo up and making it go faster. and Adding the drum parts in too. My goal is to get it as close to the Original tune as possible.

BUT Here are my questions for everyone:
1.) As you can hear in the LMMS version I made, it doesn't really seem to "flow" together so well, in lack of better terms. How do i make each note transition better? Also, what effect should i add to it? I understand that a 'reverb' effect might work but i'm not exactly sure how i should configure it. I'm a bit new to this software.
2.) what interment/sample should I use for the drums? and how should I edit those sound more like the original.
3.) how do i make the Trumpet interment/sample have more of a 'flat' sound? it's difficult for me to explain what I mean by that, but listen to the original: https://soundcloud.com/joe-partyboy-win ... me/s-DTvk5 and compare it to my LMMS version i have so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzQQwxWy8C4 and you might see what i mean by that.
4.) Also if you listen to my LMMS version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzQQwxWy8C4 you notice a slight "popping/cracking" sound at the end of each note. is there a way to eliminate that? and how so?

any other advice would be appreciated, and if you have any questions, just ask.
