Extend a sample

Hi all, i am new in this forum, software and "universe" (music creation) :D

I have installed LMMS for a few days playing around just to see how it works.
Now i'm starting to use it more seriously to compose a tune that i have in mind, but i'm stuck with the intro...

What i have in mind is a rhythm with the shaker (inserted in Beat/Bassline tool), but the sample is too short...

Instead of a short "ks" sound i need a longer one... "ksssssssss"
I tried to extend the note in piano roll, but the sound doesn't change...

There is a way to edit the sample directly in LMMS or i have to edit the audio file with other software?

I hope i have been understandable. :D
You can't do this in LMMS directly.

What you can do is shorten a sample, with the envelope, but you cant make it longer then it is.

Most simple solution is probably to look for a shaker sample, that is longer.

I am on Linux but be carefull if you're on windows, so scan the file you download, for viruses.

Because you said 'intro', i think you mean a 'seashore-effect'
Those are also known as 'risers', and 'faders'
The simple way is to find one online, just as GPS suggest, but you can also build one!
Take a look at

You also need to automate the cutoff

Thank you Gps, i'll take a look.
I use Linux too... :)

@musikbear : thank you for your answer! What i have in mind is a soft maracas style ryhthm in the intro.

With LMMS i can create a sample/sound from nothing?

:) Oki so not a 'riser'

Well not 'nothing', you need some oscillator or noise-profile, but sure -If you fiddle with things and add effects, aso -then next to any kind of sound can be generated.
Some likes ti 'compete' in that discipline, and make a whole song with only one type of oscillator, and only work with the settings, to create all the various sounds in the whole project. Take a lot of time, but it is doable.
Search yT for 'whole song with only one instrument' or similar phrase :)
Veeeery interesting, i'll take a look! Thx again! :D

Btw i found the exact sound i was searching in sample focus, thank you Gps!
Nice to hear you found a sound. Cool!
