On off effect ?

Questions about producing? Ask them here.
I would like to turn a sample on and off quickly. Like a "chopping up" of the channel. If anyone has a name for this type of effect, or any suggestions. Not sure even if it would be a plugin, effect, or automation.

Thank you

Yes, chopping is used, but you could also say 'studder-effect'
In LMMS you can create this with AudioFileProcessor (AFP), and the feature Repeat
I have made a video of the feature of AFP some time ago:

I think that explain studder too.

Besides that, since you are new in Forum

That is more complicated, Because if you listen carefully, nothing of the lyrics are missing!
What sounds like 'mute->on' is actually real fragmentation !
You would need to use a program like audacity to actually cut the vocal into tiny fragments, and then insert these in a Sample-track in highly precise positions !
Huge job!
Not only that.
Each of the 1000'th of fragments will need to have an envelope, with a controlled attack and release, otherwise the fragments will 'pop'.
The example is most likely made with some proprietary special program, that does this in studio-quality.
