I want to take a drum track (hh, snare, bd etc) and route all of it to one of the busses in the FX mixer...is there anyway to program a filter sweep???!!!!????!!!

I tried dragging various knobs into the automation track while holding the shift key to no avail. so far only volume and panning and a nice filter sweep on the incomplete TB 303 VST by using the controller rack, but that is it so far...

It is the first song here:

I don't understand what you mean by filter sweep, but I think you mean the one with a lowpass filter changing frequency.
Try using ctrl-click instead of shift-click. Here is a video on how to do a sweep. Not quite the process, but it will help you understand the basic idea so you can do it with an EQ.

You do that by first routing each of the separate hh, snare, bd etc, to separate FX-channels, but then you send every one of these to one new FX-channel, lets call it 'combinedDrums'. That channel you then send to Master.
You can now make effect for all in combinedDrums
