How to emulate piano sounds?

Questions about producing? Ask them here.
Hi,

I am a newbie in LMMS.

I am interested in piano sounds and found this track featuring a piano https://lmms.io/showcase/ (top track)

So my question is: Is there support for piano sounds in LMMS? Or do we need to use external third-party VST's?

Thanks

Edit: I use a variety of GNU/Linux systems, from Antergos to Ubuntu
There are no good built-in piano sounds. You can either use a VSTi or in many cases it's easier to use a soundfont (SF2 file) via the SF2Player. A General MIDI soundfont contains many instruments usually including a few different pianos. A (free) one I've used is available from http://www.schristiancollins.com/generaluser.php but there are plenty of others, just Google "SF2 soundfont".

I imagine they work in Linux but I've never tried. I use Windows.

Welcome to the Lmms forums Zequinha. :)

To add onto what slipstick just told you,....
Another option is, as soon as you get accustomed and comfortable, with Lmms and it's internal plugins etc.
with enough practice, you could learn to make piano sounds, using Lmms' internal plugins, like Triple Oscillator ZynAddSubFX and a few others etc.

In theory, yes. The plugin zynAddSubFX has so advanced possibilities, that it should be possible to emulate the sound of a piano -but..
Theory is one thing, to actually do it, is a very different thing.
I find MDA-piano (on VST-list in wiki) to be a good piano, but you can as Steve said find soundfonts, and even VST-in-sampled pianos, in GB size, even free ones
