How to make a synth that will reduce pitch in a single note?

Questions about producing? Ask them here.
I want to create a synth that reduces in pitch automatically in a single note, like a 'pew' 'pew' sound, with a reducing pitch, like what one would use just before a transition in an EDM song.

Also, I'm linking a video on YouTube, of Martin Garrix's Animals, to give an idea of the kind of synth I want to get. It's that 'pew! pew! pew!' sound, you know!

Any suggestions are welcome...

You don't need to create a new synth, you already have any number of ways to change pitch within a note depending on what instrument you're using. The most basic with the internal instruments is just to automate the Pitch control (you'll probably want to increase Range too).

But most of what's going on in that video is not pitch changes at all it's just filter sweeps. Can you narrow down the exact time of the sound you're looking for ? Unfortunately I don't know what "pew! pew!" in your head sounds like out where I am ;).

Ok, so at the point where I've linked you, there is a bass playing loudly, and there's a snare drum. Besides these two, there's something 'treble-y', that sounds somewhat like a siren... A police siren or an ambulance siren... That's what I mean by 'pew!'.

Also, here's a trimmed version of the video time time: The sound that plays between 1:21 and 1:22, between the base and the snare beats.

As I said before just find a sound you like in any instrument (3Osc, ZASFX, etc or a VST) then automate the pitch. Ctrl/Drag the the Pitch control to an automation track (see https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Wo ... Automation ). If you set Range up to at least 12 then draw sawtooth or squarish shapes in the automation track siren type noises will just naturally turn up. You'll have to experiment to get the exact sound and pitch range you want.

Or if you don't want to write your own automation you need to use a VSTi synth with an modulation envelope that can be patched to control oscillator pitch then it can do it all for you. Unfortunately I can't think of many that will work in LMMS. Pitch modulation is one of the few things Synth1 won't do. Of the synths I've tried Charlatan will definitely do it and theBloo might also be worth a try.

Steves method is ok, but the right way is to use a pr.note synchronised LFO.
Unfortunately, lmms LFO is synchronized pr block, not note.
You can however find loads of VST instruments thaqt will allow you to synchronize as pr. note.
In fact the best of all Synth1, has that exact feature.
If you or others need tutorial for this, let me know

Hi musikbear.

I've used the Synth1 LFOs in key synch mode but they only have a limited range of shapes and I've not found a way to get them to operate as single shot instead of repeating. To me those are the advantages of using a proper ADSR modulation envelope. So what is it that I've missed ;) ?

I will make a tut on this subject, because it also show how powerful Synth1 LFOs can be.

Here i show the difference of continuous (pr pattern) and discreet (pr note) LFOs
