Are The Samples Royalty Free?

Questions about producing? Ask them here.
Hey everyone!

First of all, I always want to work with 100% allowed and unstolen samples so that's why I need your help.
I was wondering if al the samples in the LMMS sidebar are free of copyright, does anybody know ?

Just like many of you guys, I've been creating a lot of music in the past months and I was always wondering about this.
Please let me know,

Bless you all & regards,

RVNMC

To be clear, the exact license the samples are offered under currently is GPL2. Since GPL2 is a source license, that doesn't really help when using artwork or binary files.

As of right now, you can do whatever you want with derivative works, just don't relicense anything from our samples library as your own until we rebuild them in a true CC0 fashion.

Note, bundled project files aren't CC0 cleared either. If you have a question about a particular track, let a developer know and we'll do our best to get you in contact with the original artist. This will be fixed in the future as time permits. (and we're in desperate need of help in this area)

I made a few songs, with notes from Skiessi's music which were located in the My projects section, can I still sell my music?

It depends what you mean by "notes from Skiessi's music". If you mean you have used the same SAMPLES that were used then you're o.k. because they are all LMMS royalty free samples.

OTOH if you mean you have taken tunes (strings of notes) played on instruments like Triple Osc or LB302 then you are not o.k. You are not supposed to sell other people's tunes as if they were your own.

Steve.

Slipstick is right. :D
And as you yourself suggested in another post, it is best to try and contact Skiessi and ask
for permission. :)

Also, musikbear left a suggestion here for you.

I have installed a video maker on my laptop, as I am willing to send a video message to my family on Christmas Eve, because I am living miles apart from them. Thus, I am searching for royalty free Christmas music that can be incorporated in the video much easily.

Hi Shelvin -im afraid you are in a wrong forum :) Unless you want to create some Christmas music, this forum is wrong, unless you can get some artist here, to compose a piece of music for your video, but for that i would suggest, that you open a new ticket in sub forum 'General chat' viewforum.php?f=4, and ask for Collaboration for a video-project. This thread is for sample-royalty only.
