The tutorial presents the interfase and components quite good, but then it takes a wrong direction, when it comes to building the project.
The tutorial attempts to emulate the workflow and usage of components that is known from FLstudio, and that is not how LMMS is meant to be used!
Beat&bass-editor is not meant for musical segments at all!
The musical segments are meant to be made inside song-editor
This way to structure a project is actually one of the strongest features in LMMS, because it let you make subtle variations in the various musical segments (melody), in song-editor.

and many years ago i made a rookie-guide, that also show the most productive workflow, it is linked in the signature
I learned a couple things today. Thanks you for posting the tutorial! I didn't realize how easy it was to put instruments into the mixer.
