A simple grouchy bass

I'm transitioning from Reaper to LMMS and found a way to get a really nice, adjustable grouchy bass using LMMS and Zyn. Basically, the velocity only goes up to about 127 max in Reaper in the default setup (although I imagine there are probably ways to change that). In LMMS, we have a maximum velocity of 200, which to me seems like a kind of built in overdrive or bitcrusher.
So I tried boosting the velocity up to the max in LMMS and then bringing it down until I got the desired amount of 'grouchiness' for a simple bass.
You guys might know this already but as a newb to LMMS, i thought it was great! Perfect for a 70s style, soul cop show track I'm working on.
