How to make my Ooh Waow Waow Waow wobbly sound.
Using Synth 1 :)

(A very simple, short tut) 8-)

This synth sound, would fit in well for a dubstep/electro song. ;)

First as always:
Make sure you have a default initial sound bank. :)
Since, it makes it easier for us.
Image
------------------------------------------------

We're using LP 24 again dudes. :)
Image
-----------------------------------------------

Turn on both the Track button and m.env button.
Image
The only dials we're going to turn, are the m.env's....A D and amt dials. :)
A to 78
D to 127
amt to -21
-----------------------------------------------

Turn the mix dial, all the way, to the right.
Image
-----------------------------------------------

In the Amplifier Section, turn
Image
A dial to 52, or less.
-----------------------------------------------

Freq to 28
res to 14 or 0
sat to 47
Image
----------------------------------------------

In the LFO 1 section
Select the sine wave.
So far, this sine wave sign, works best for this sound.

Press the 1 button to turn on the LFO 1. If it lights yellow, that means it is on.
Turn on the Tempo and key buttons. Until they light green.
Green means they are on.

Turn:
Tempo spd dial to (4)
key amt dial to 102

Choose filter
Image
---------------------------------------------

Yay! And we're done. :)
Press and hold the U key or the Y key on you PC keyboard, for a while.
Sounds cool don't you think? :D

And there you have it dudes, my ooh Waow Waow Waow sound.
Hopefully you guys put this sound I made, to good use.
If you put it in a dubstep/other type song, please link me to the music.

See you guys soon.
I'll be back with another tut.
God Bless. 8-)
Another goody. If you're doing all these for Synth1 then why not also release them as a set of presets ? There are loads already out there but a few more always help, particularly as yours have these descriptions not just (often incomprehensible) names.

Tutorial 5
Super Mario Ghost/UFO wobble sound.

Today, we make my 8 bit Mario Ghost/UFO wobble sound.
(A very simple fun super short tut) 8-)

This tut was specially made, because some new Lmms users, who want to make chiptune, or are making music for old school style video games, have trouble understanding the sfxr plugin and other Lmms' plugins similar to it.
So I hope you rookies enjoy this tut. :D

Note: I am not an sfxr Pro expert. Lol! :P

--------------------------------------------------------

Part 1
Today, we us Lmms' sfxr plugin for this.
So open it up.
Image

--------------------------------------------------------

Leave it on the default Square wave.
Image

--------------------------------------------------------

In the Env section (aka the Blue dials):
ATT (attack) raise a bit, or leave it as it is.
DEC (Decay) dial to 0.8 or a bit more, or less if you want.
Image

---------------------------------------------------------
In the Freq section (aka the Green dials) ;)
Image
START dial Leave it as it is, or raise it a tiny bit.

V.DEP. dial to 0.16

V.SPD. to 0.253 or, raise it to 0.276
Note: The more you raise the V.SPD. dial, the faster the wobble will sound.
Or, the more you turn V.SPD. to the right, the faster it pulsates.

Press and hold the Y key on your keyboard.
And that's the Cool yet scary Ghosty/UFO sound right there. 8-)
Good for Bowsers castle stage, in the Mario Bros. games. :D

Now Press and hold the U key or T key, or any other key.
And listen to the other sounds each key makes.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Part 2
Now, lets make it sound, a bit more scarier. :D

Go to the FX section
Image

And add a Calf Reverb to the sfxr.
Image

-----------------------------------------------------------

Lower the Decay time knob, by turning it to the left. 0.8 or lower is a good number.
We don't want too much Decay on this sound. :D

Raise the Wet Amount dial to 1.1 by turning it to the right, or slighty more if you want.

Dry Amount= Turn it Full left or almost full left.

Bass Cut = Turn it a good bit to the left direction.
Note: If you turn the Bass cut to the right, we'll lose the sound effect we are aiming for. :P
-------------------------------------------------------------
And now we're done. :)

Now press and hold the Y key.
GASP!!
Scary isn't it?

Now press and hold, any key.
Taa daa!

This Super Mario Ghost/UFO wobble sound, is good for Bowsers Scary castle stage filled with Boo's. Lol! :D
Feel free to use it for your game projects and chiptune music. :)

I hope you enjoyed this tut.
See you soon, with another cool one. 8-)
slipstick wrote:Another goody.
Thanks again slipstick.
Glad you guys are enjoying them. :D
slipstick wrote:If you're doing all these for Synth1 then why not also release them as a set of presets ?
Yep. Nice idea. I was thinking about releasing them as presets.
But I kinda realised that, if I did that, then many Lmms users wouldn't learn how to figure out Synth 1 and other
synths for themselves.
So I made these tuts, to give Lmms Synth 1 rookies, some understanding about Synth 1 etc.
To encourage them to turn dials, and want to figure out stuff and try to make new sounds for themselves. :)
So it's kinda like an learning excercise. He! He!

My latest tut, uses sfxr. :)
slipstick wrote:There are loads already out there but a few more always help,
Yep. I agree.
Another preset pack wouldn't hurt. He! He!
slipstick wrote:particularly as yours have these descriptions not just (often incomprehensible) names.

Steve
Thanks.
I'm glad I put them descriptive enough, even though, some of the names of these sounds, do sound strange. Lol! 8-)
Tutorial 6
A super short tut.

Mario coin up sound.

Today we use Lmms' internal plugin, Freeboy.

First off, open Freeboys. :P
Image

-------------------------------------------------------------

Go to this section.
Image

Turn the left Vol in this section, to the full left until it hits 0.

Turn the second volume that's on the far right. To 0 also. This volume reduces the noise.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Now go to this section of Freeboy.
Image
Turn the:
SRS dial to 5
ST Time dial to 4

Oh, you see these arrows to the side
Image
Leave them as they are. :D

And that's that.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Press the Y key. You have just collected a Mario coin. 8-)
Press or hold, any other keyboard key. and you get, lots of different cool sounds.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Simple tip.
Image
Play around with the SRS and STime dials
and the arrows
Image
to make, all sorts of unusual, cool Gameboyish sounds.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Have fun in the land of the Mushroom Kingdom. 8-)

Image

Errrrr,..........okay?! :|

O_O
