Tutorial 2

Here's a Super Fun tutorial! 8-)

How to make my:
Tweety bird chirping sound
by Brandy :D

In this tut, we use Synth 1.
(You'll never believe how easy it is to make. Lol!) :D

Open Synth 1 and make sure you have an empty default slot, on your Synth 1 file.
Image

-----------------------------------------------------------------
We're using LP 24 again. :D
Image

-----------------------------------------------------------------
In the Osc 2 section, turn the pitch dial to 42. :)
Image

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Go to the m. env. section.
This m. env. button, is a special button. And will help us to get our tweety birdy sound.
Press the m env. button to turn it on. It'll turn green. Once it's green, it's on.
Image

A dial to 29
D dial to 36
Amt dial to 20

dest. leave it on the default osc2.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now go to the mix section
Turn the mix knob fully to the right.
If you don't turn the mix knob full right, we wouldn't get a clean sounding
tweety bird sound.
Image
Now turn the tune dial to -20.

----------------------------------------------------------------
In the Amplifier section, turn the A dial to 30.
Since we want it to sound a bit airy and nice.
Image

(Optional) Reduce the R dial to 60 or less if you want. 8-)
----------------------------------------------------------------

Go to the Voice/Unison section.
We want our tweety bird sound, to sound Fat, wide and full sounding.
Press the Unison button until it lights green.
Green means it is on.
Image

But, we want it to sound fatter. ;)
Image
So, Press the top grey block and raise the number, from 2, to 3 or 4.
I suggest 4. :)

Raise the Poly to 18 or more if you want.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Go to Tempo Delay.
Look for the dial called d/w.
Image
Leave d/w at it's default number 23.

Or, reduce the d/w a bit to something like 12 if you want to.

For a plain clean tweety sound with no repeating echoes, Reducing it to 0 will give you that.
Your choice. :)

Warning: Don't turn the d/w way to much over 50 etc. Otherwise,.........

---------------------------------------------------------------
(Optional)
If you want, you could turn the S dial aka sustain dial, all the way to 0.
Image
---------------------------------------------------------------

Press the Y key, or any other key on your keyboard.
Taa daa!
Rapidly press lots of keyboard keys, and hear how cool it sounds. He! He!
It sounds like lots of birds singing. :D

Sounds cool huh?
And now you have made my Tweety bird chirping sound.
I hope you enjoyed this rare, yet special tut. 8-)
Nice! just a word about d/w, because we also have that in lmms on all effects inserts:
Image
d/w stands for dry/wet and is a serious potent setting.
If a sound is dry it is unmodified. 100% dry should sound exactly like it does with NO effect.
Wet means the opposite.
100% wet would mute the dry sound, and only play the effect output.
Automated this can bring some very cool variations, but be careful with wet sounds. If they go into self-repeat mode, sumthingie has to 'explode' :p
Awesome! Great tutorial.
I think you mean "tweedie bird chirping sound." lol.
Nope, you never see birds wearing tweed. It's Tweety Bird, as in Looney Tunes cartoons with Sylvester the Cat. "I taut I taw a puddy tat...." Or am I the only one old enough to remember these ?

Cute tut Brandy.
Sorry, didn't specify. It was a pun as my previous alias was "Tweedie bird" because my last name is tweedie and it sounds like tweety bird :P Lol I remember those classics.

Lol!
Strangely when I came up with that name, it reminded me of your original Lmms user name.

Cute tut Brandy.
Thank you.
I called the name of the sound, Tweety bird sound because it sounded like a bird tweeting sound. Lol!
Tweety from Looney toons and Tweedie Bird aka Chill Frog aka Chill Fox, also came to mind, when I came up with the name.

Yep. His original name was Tweedie Bird.

I myself, remember Looney Tunes, especially Tweety and Sylvester.
Speaking of Looney Tunes, maybe I should make a Cat like Sylvester sound too. He! He!
And how coincidential, I have one called Bayonetta the Cats Meow sound.
I'll post that soon.

Also, I made this tut, because Chill Fox and some other users, asked for nature type sounds.
So I hope this comes in handy for your projects.

Thanks for that info and warning musikbear.

I will hopefully do so, in the next couple of months.
I'm glad to see it was easy and concise to follow. :D
we'll have two heavyweights in the tut business musikbear and mr starbrite i like that, we will learn a lot :P
Tutorial 3

This is another short Special Tut, where we will make multiple sounds and variations etc.

Today we again use Synth 1, to make:
A Build up engine reving sound
A speeding motocross speeder bike

The sound of multiple motocross bikes, racing.
And,.....we also make, a roaring speeding car sound, aka the Fast and the Furious sound.
Which I call, the Vin Diesel Speed racer sound. 8-)

First thing we do is: Open Synth 1.

Find a default sound bank.
Image :)

We're using LP 24 again. :D
Image
----------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure that Track, Ring and sync are all off. And,....don't interfere with any of the dials here. :D
Image
----------------------------------------------------------------

Turn on m. env
Image
A dial to 36
D to 100
amt to -26
Dest. osc2
----------------------------------------------------------------

In the Mixer section
Image
Turn the Mix dial, Full to the right.
Turn the Tune dial to 15
---------------------------------------------------------------

In the Amplifier Section
Image
A(attack dial) to 42

In the Filter Section
Image
Res to 0
Sat to 40
---------------------------------------------------------------

Turn on Unison and raise it to 4.
In the Voice Section, raise the Poly to 18 or higher.
Image

Now: Lower Vestiges volume, to something like 86.

Press and hold, the Y key or any other key.
You get an engine build up sound.
Sounds cool eh? :D
----------------------------------------------------------------

Now for the Fun part. 8-)

Go to the top and find Effects Section and press the on button to turn it On.
Make sure that a.d.1 is selected, like in this pic.
Image

The reason we lowered the Vestiges volume a bit, is because using some of these effects like a.d.1 etc,
can make sounds super loud and cause alot of clipping.
Yep. Poor speakers!

Again, Press and hold, the Y key or any other key.
We get a loud vehicle engine reving sound. :D
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for the Super duper Fun part!! 8-)

We re-visit the Pitch dial, located in the Unison section. :)
Image

Note, for each turn of the dial: Press and hold the Y key etc. to get the full long sounds.
Turning this Pitch dial, can give us all kinds of unusual reving car/moto bike sounds etc.

Pitch= 0 Gives us a default bike or car etc. reving engine speeding vehicle sound.

Pitch= +2 gives us a sort of high speed motocross bike type sound.

Pitch= -5 gives us a motocross rally.

Pitch=-9 gives us a racing motobike type sound.
-----------------------------------------------------------
And,.....Pitch= +9 Gives us a cool racing car type sound. 8-)

But............
Believe it or not, Pitch=17 8-) ;)
Gives us,...........

Image

;)

Image
Vin Diesel!! 8-)

Which adds up and gives us,........
Image
The FAST AND THE FURIOUS, Engine build up reving high speed racing Sound!! 8-)

I Hope you enjoyed my tut!
See ya!! 8-)
New tut coming soon.
So look out for it dudes. :D
