I had to google because Timpani does not sound familiar to me.zonkmachine wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 6:03 amThose big drums used in orchestras are called Timpani in English. They quite often are tunable by the use of pedals. And for build ups? They are the original 'build up' material...
lmao, I instantly recognize that tune. Thank god I did not have to name it. Now what movie was it ? space 2010 ?musikbear wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 3:33 pm(al)So says Strauss

The drums used in that vid, especially the sound of it, remind me of the Bass drums
used in orchestral music. Bass drums, give alot of dramatic sound, to orchestral music.
And it even kinda sounds, a bit like a Bass Drum too.
But then, I just discovered, the one in that vid, is actually called a Pauken.
Wow! So that's what they're called. I learned something new today. Ha! Ha!
So you have a choice, between Bass Drum, Pauken, Concert Toms and Taiko.
Okay:
After listening to the sounds, all those drums make, I think the Pauken, might be better
suited for your build up.
