And here is the work in progress

This is not bad at all. It really sounds good.
But, some of the synth sounds, need some good ol' volume. :P
Add in a few more synth melodies etc. and it'll sound even better. :)

I checked out the youtube link you provided.
I am not a fan of progressive trance, but I can see where you got, a bit of inspiration from. :)
I have been listening to allot of trance, and my first conclusion was, that I am not a trance fan.

One problem with trance for me, I don't like a 6 min intro, while listening, I was like get on with it, what are you waiting for ?

Interesting to hear that those mixes are progressive trance, then progressive trance might something I like.

It def needs some fine tuning. The problem you hear is because of filters I open en close.
It needs a second automation track, were I compensate for this with the volume. :)
The automation of the filter itself, needs some fine tuning too, and maybe I need to use more knobs.

I am looking at more stuff to add, and how to get my bassline under control.
Frequency cutting and or some side chaining, might be the answer. ( and or widening the stereo, for some instruments )

I am also trying to add chord progression, but that seems to kill the trance every time.
Some of the arpeggio's are in my mind begging for some melody / chord progression though.
I almost can't believe what I just did.

I cut a frequency on the bass, and used a calf plug-in, to widen the stereo of the bass.

That worked out nicely. Bass and Kick are now less in each-others way.

A few weeks ago, while listening to professional mixed music, I noticed how some of the instrument, are placed different in the stereo spectrum. More panned to the left or right, or more wide.

Not much luck / inspiration yet on adding more synth stuff, but I changed the snare.
I might need more rhythm stuff, and listen some more to those mixes.

Its now around 7 minutes, and that feels like the right time.
Nice to see, that you got the bass and kick, to sound well together. :D

Yeah. That is a trick they they do, to make instruments fit together well.
The only prob with that, is if one of your speakers fail, it'll sound like something is missing. :P

Take your time with the melodies. You'll figure something out sooner or later. :D
I might have an almost finished track.

I am trying to add some sweeps, but that is not working as it should.

Its not the sweep it self, but how to end it.

Now it just sounds great, but then its like somebody turns it off, and that does not blend into the track at all.

Already tried changing the note length and volume, that helped a bit, but still no cigar.

used this vid from Cubician
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUrGGmlLo40

I am probably missing something. :)
I noticed, that immediately right after his sweep sound ends, he has a (weeooww!!) special effect sound
that plays, like a milli-sec right after the sweep sound ends.
It's a trick that some musicians use, to make a build up or air rush sound, blend nicely
or smoothly, into the main melody or chorus etc. It's kinda similar to what people call, a drop.

Or, you could make the air rush/sweep sound, last longer and automate the volume, to fade out slowly.
Thank you, I had noticed the growl, and will have another try with a longer fade out.
I am just sharing this, because it made me smile, and I hope it will at least make music bear smile too.

I stated once something like, that imagination. sounded like trance to me.

I was proven wrong by music bear :) , and then I found this,

at 54 min ROFL

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5ezaFLOKL0

Imagination - New Dimension on a progressive house beat.

One of the tracks of Imagination, I do not really like though.
I am not very happy about my latest track, so I needed to do something else for a bit.

Then I found a file, of an earlier cover attempt.

Did some messing and now have this:

I am very worried if I can do a good build up, like the original, but I love my start.

The original:

Any thoughts on were to find that old telephone dialling sound ?
Or maybe even better, how do this with a synth and automation ?

And that sound that starts at 0.27. It for me not about that specific sound, I can prob find something in synth1, but more on what am I hearing.

I hear a swelling sound ? is it faded out or ?

This sounds lovely Gps. :o
And that lovely bell type synth sound, you used for the melody, makes this sound like a classic. 8-)
Lovely take on the original tune man. Just lovely. :)
