Where to start in the world of Digital Music?

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Hi, I am writing here because I would like some help, tips and directions on how I can start making my own digital music. There ain't more beginner then I. I have near to 0 knowledge in music, I took piano classes during a few month in school and that's it.

My first question of all is: Is it possible to create an entire music without playing any real instrument or recording sounds myself with object at home? I started a few years ago 3D modeling, learning by reading and watching tutorial on internet. Now, I would like to learn the same way for digital music, but I feel like this is world way more big then I imagined and to tell you the truth, I feel intimidated by it!

A few weeks ago I downloaded the trial of FL Studio, watched a few things about it and I liked it but I wasn't ready to pay the price for it, at least not yet, not until I'd be a master in the art of digital music. So I found LMMS which looked similar and was free, best option to start right? Or maybe you know of another software that is more suited for total beginner like me? I watched a few tutorial on YouTube but after learning the basic of how to play around with LMMS, I am left alone with my own will of creation which I can't satisfy because I don't know anything on how to mix sound or even just use all LMMS feature. It just feel overwhelming.

There are many style of music I would like to be able to create, but here is one example of what I would kind of aim for once I'll be a master! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85bkCmaOh4o&t=882s
How did this person learn from A to Z on creating this?

If you think I could find more help that suit the help I need on another forum/website that you know, let me know :)

Thank you.

Yes.
Or maybe you know of another software that is more suited for total beginner like me?
How dare you to ask US to advise you to ditch LMMS?! :0) -kidding :D
I would say 'No' -No as in: not free, but one of lmms developers is completely hooked on the program bitWig. He prefer bitWig over LMMS, still -remember : It is not free.
So i would say : Dig into the fun of making electronica with LMMS for no cost, and then -if you feel you want to go semi or full pro, try something like bitWigs timetrial-version, but LMMS is perfect for the hobby musician
I watched a few tutorial on YouTube but after learning the basic of how to play around with LMMS, : use all LMMS feature. It just feel overwhelming.
Perhaps my LMMS rookie-guide can interest you? Link in signature.
and you are always welcome to ask about anything here

He worked with both the program and the basics in theory and music structure, for a long time. Just as everyone has to do, weather it is Kabuki theater, woodcraft, or music: Work!

I always recommend the page 8notes for music-theory
and my own vids :p

But maybe your piano-knowledge is sufficient ..
There are also many other very good link in our 'Useful resources'

and there is also a thread here on forum, that describe going from beginner-woes to good tracks:

Yep, it is possible. But it is an important investment in lifetime (and later, may be, in cash).

I believe that reasoning in terms of money is an impasse. If you want to learn the trumpet, it is better to buy a trumpet rather than a kazoo, and vice versa. LMMS and FL are just different. Many people have learned with LMMS, and even more with FL.

According to what I saw following your link, it is a DJ mix of pre-existing tracks. Although LMMS allow you to make a DJ mix, in my opinion, i'ts not the most indicated for that. LMMS is best suited for composing your tracks from A to Z.

If you want to adopt LMMS, there is no better forum than this one.

I invite you to search deep inside https://lmms.io
Not to mention the LSP which is full of many treasures: https://lmms.io/lsp/

With best regards
How I got from, people asking if I was tone def, to were I am now.

I have studied, music theory, this can be boring, but you have to understand some of the basics. ( scales )

I watched many vids of people in lmms and other daw making music.
( even some videos of people using real synths, this helped me understanding the synths in lmms better )

I also tried to cover songs I like. This can be very frustrating when you're just starting, but I learned allot from it, even although I sometimes failed.

I also studied midi files, and learned a lot from that too. How does something you like, look in the piano roll ?

Never give up never surrender, and accept that it will take time to learn all.

In my case my hearing is probably what has improved most.
When I started, I did not now what attack decay and sustain meant. Synth 1, was a yellow thingy with way to many knobs.
To some extent I still feel like that about zynaddsubfx, but its a damn good synth.

Compressors ? I knew Turbo's, but that is not help full when were talking about music.
