Sound bites from films on LMMS?

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Hi.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get audio clips from films on an lmms track?

I'm making an Alien themed album just now and would like to have a couple of sound bites from films like The Fourth Kind and Close Encounters of The Third Kind etc...

Anyone know if and how this can be done on lmms?

Thanks.
lmms supports wave and midi. if you have your clips in those formats -yes
if not -no
Don't forget LMMS also uses Ogg Vorbis as well. (All of the included sound samples are .ogg afaik) As whether to use .ogg or .wav, it seems like a toss-up. (Maybe there are some good reasons to prefer one over the other, but I don't know offhand.)

As far as recording samples? Audacity is your friend there. It complements LMMS well and vice-versa.
you will have to "rip" the audio from the actual film clips, in linux this can be done easily using ffmpeg and easier using its frontend (GUI) = WinFF, you will normally have to rip the entire film tho which may not be desirable. As someone above posted "audacity" can be used to rip the audio as you play your film clip in realtime , then trim off what is not needed, then export the audio clip from audacity as either .ogg (compressed ; lossy) or .wav format (uncompressed ; lossless), now best to export this to your lmms/samples folder.

now in LMMS create a segment in the song-editors sample track and double click this created segment which will search the lmms/samples folder , choose your file and you should be good to go. Also possible to drag and drop the audio clip into either song-editor or beat and bassline editor, but this way you will have to draw in the note length manually. hth ;)
