Hi there! :D

I need some advice by someone that knows music production in LMMS better than me.

I know what are samples and VST, but in your opinion which is better to use, or when to use one rather than the other?

Have you got any advice for VSTs or Samples packs? I wanted to produce Hip Hop music ;)

That is simple, because LMMS does not have a sampler. For that reason, you can only use samples for 'one-shots'. That could be an effect, or it could be a vocal, but not suited as instruments, unless you do like this:

I always recommend the VST Synth1 you can use that for everything. In regards to sample-packs, i think the simplest thing is to search for "Free HipHop-Samples", and have a good virus-scanner installed :)

Hello matteonovelli and welcome to the forums.

You might also want to check out soundfonts. Lmms supports soundfonts too.

Yes Synth1 is a very good vst. I also use a lot of T Force Alpha Plus, it is excellent. But do some research on the Internet, there are plenty of vst.
Personally I prefer vst to sf2, because it offers many more possibilities, but it requires a certain mastery. Also if you are a beginner try first sf2 or samples.

I am a huge fan of WAVES. They have great sounds for basically every instrument. I'm a keyboardist so I especially like the Rhodes sounds. You can read more about them here. This man is one of the coolest keyboard players when it comes to performing live as well.
