Custom build from source code question

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Hello, I am new here, and I have been using LMMS for a while now, and I absolutely LOVE it! :) But I had a question I'm sure is easy to answer but I'm unsure. I have seen LMMS is open-source, and I was wondering, can I download the source code and modify the code, and make my own custom build of LMMS, and if I wanted to, redistribute it as my own? I'm just unsure and would like to make sure if that's OK. Thanks! :D
I don't know the licence details, but probably you can, but you need to include a files, that explains were the original source code comes from.

That's how it works for Linux. But I do not know if LMMS has exactly the same open-source licence.

can I download the source code and modify the code, and make my own custom build of LMMS,
Yes.
and if I wanted to, redistribute it as my own?
Not entirely. You are obligated to
  • firmly state where you have the codebase from, and to link to the LMMS projects official page
  • Any and all code of the LMMS project, MUST be kept as Open-source! That include your added or edited code !
But
First and foremost we would very much like to invite You to join the project!
We are constantly looking for coders, and even though you maybe only have abilities in some part of C++, we would be very pleased if you would join and be part of the Developer-group !
