lmms means Linux MultiMedia Studio. Then why should Linux people, cant do something , when windows people can do.

I am a ubuntu 20.04 user, and i like to install things with terminal, so i ctrl + p & ctrl + v
"$sudo apt-get install lmms-vst-full"
because i want full functionality. but it says ..
"Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package lmms-vst-full"
how ever
"$ sudo apt-get install lmms" did work, but its doesn't have vestige plugins. also it's version is 1.2.1.

Ok then i find "$ flatpak install flathub io.lmms.LMMS", still its doesn't have vestige also Carla doesn't work for windows plugins.

Then i tried direct install, Ok its have Carla and Vestige both, but then , again , its no use .... because none of them work.
I DONT KNOW, BUT ITS SEEMS TO ME IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCESSES LMMS ON LINUX PLATFORM "PROPERLY".

Right now i am forced to use lmms with wine, and i dont want to... if any help or look out can be provide by any pro user or programmer ... I think we need to look out on this issue. what do you think.
THANK YOU..
There are allot of issues with the packages build by the package builders, from about every distro around.

That why there is now an appimage file for Linux.

https://lmms.io/download#linux

Download it, set rights so its becomes executable. Then start lmms by double clicking that file.

Another option is to compile LMMS yourself, or talk to the package builders of your distro that LMMS is not working.

You dont need wine to run LMMS on LInux. However if you want to be able to use vst, you need to install wine too.

I am on openSUSE ( tumble weed) and did talk to the LMMS package builder of openSUSE.
I now have LMMS with Carla on openSUSE.

There is a minor issue with this carla version from opensuse though. It refuses to run vst , that work fine through vestige.

I was however able to load amsynth through Carla into LMMS. Sadly though we can't automate things in Carla yet.

WMMS? Nah, LMMS seems like a more suitable name.
And besides, people have known it by that name, for many years now. But I understand your opinion though.
All Linux users should not come to this forum first, for problems with LMMS, unless they are using the appimage file.

They should talk to their package managers.

I am willing to bet most package builders don't even know there is a problem with the LMMS they build, because nobody tells them.

That was also the problem on openSUSE which I use. I was quite surprised I was the first person to tell them there was a problem. They did not know.
They don't have the time to test every program they build in detail. they need us the users to tell them if there is a problem. :)

So either use the apimage file, of which we already know, it works on Arch, Fedora, Ubuntu, openSUSE and mint, or talk to your package builders.

Then there is this wine issue. Again tell the package builders you have a problem with wine. ( in lmms)

On openSUSE the problem is solved becasuse I talked to them.
There are now two version of LMMS available on openSUSE.
One for those like me who want to use vst, one for the people that don't want to install wine.

lmms means Linux MultiMedia Studio.
No. LMMS means LMMS.
There are no acronym connected to the letters.
LMMS is a Brand!
It is next to improbable that this will ever change!
In respect to your issues with your installation, you need to know that only our AppImage of 1.2.2 is supported, and meant to be used by all Linux users.
Support of VST1 is through WINE
That setup gives linux-users exactly the same features as users of windows OS, and add options for lvl2 through Carla, of witch i have NO idea, but GPS does :D

This is all you need to know about installing and using lmms on linux:

If that creates problems please let us know!

Besides that, since you are new in Forum
