Is there any FREE 16-bit (SNES-like) instruments around?

Hi all! New here on the forums!

I was wondering for centuries after having experiences with "foggy" SNES soundfonts: something really free actually exists out there? I would like to make a RPG Maker game using those samples, but even after digging for a while in the links provided by this thread, i didnt manage to find anything similar.

Before someone ask: 8-bit (NES-like) is a bit.. er... harsh for my current needs.

So.. any ideas?

Well, that soundfont use the same technique of the "foggy" soundfonts i already using (Setzer SPC Soundfont and Chrono Trigger Soundfont). Samples directly ripped from a console's chip.

My question is about something really free (samples made from scratch), no rips (sucetible to copyright infringment).

Or in case of ripped soundfonts it isnt any "crime"? I know William Kage (the guy from Chrono Trigger SF2) actually sells your music using CT instrument samples. How is possible?
If you're looking for something that sounds exactly like what has been used in the SNES console and its games, then I'm afraid there's no such thing as free and fog-free.

The difference between 8-bit and 16-bit isn't all that relevant in my opinion. You can start with some raw/harsh 8-bit sounds using any synthesizer, and just tweak it until it sounds like something coming from a SNES console.

Regarding your last question, it all depends on the licences they work with.

The first is new for me (C700 VST), i will try depending of its license (if allows the resulting audio to be used in free or commercial games).
The second is the first tutorial i have found for chiptune, and the soundfont used is Chrono Trigger, the one i cited in OP, which has "obscure" legallity.
To be honest fiddle with the different shapes on sfxr. And see what you'll get.

Probably not close to what you're looking for, but hey. Worth a shot.

I was waiting for a answer of this kind.

Any good tutorials for LMMS built-in plugins? I really want to understand how make a good mix out of it, but i dont know much of its functions. (sfxr, Nescaline and Freeboy - if legal, i assume - , Viber, Kicker and etc)

Just to put everything to rest.
EVERY instrument you have in default LMMS is legal for -anything-

I omo go through all of zasfx filters, and explain how to get various stuff done :p
Just click on a bunch of the symbols till you get a sound that satisfies you :)
