Beginner looking for help

I'm trying to learn LMMS so I can make remixes for OverClocked Remix. I have absolutely no experience with any music software though or music making in general, so the interface is quite daunting, and the instructions in the tutorial seem a bit overwhelming. Although that could just be my tendency to want to jump into things head first lol. My idea to make it easier to learn what everything does is to take a track that already exists and modify each piece with other effects, that way I can learn where everything should go to do whatever I need. Is that possible with this software?

Otherwise -dl the pdf manual (wiki)
