LMMS Testimonials - Promo Strategy

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Although we don't yet have an official date for the upcoming 1.2.0 release, I think it will be an excellent opportunity to promote our DAW and give it the attention it deserves.

One of the ways to do this would be via the official homepage. I'm thinking about testimonials such as these:

http://www.image-line.com/flstudio/powerusers.php
http://www.bitwig.com/en/community/artists.html

Would it be a good idea to write testimonials for LMMS? If so, would it be better to have them as short as those on FL Studio, or as long as those on Bitwig?

If we made a similar style to FL Studio, we'd want to do it as a "power user" kind of deal. I'd say if we were to do that, let's have the forum admins run a contest of sorts or nominate specific artists who they think could represent the product well.

But once again, keep in mind we might not end up being able to use this idea.

Yes, the "power user" approach could work. I'm rather hesitant about getting admins involved in this particular promotional initiative though. Some of them may be too busy with bug zapping and doing other development stuff, so I prefer not to bother them too much.

We could also include visual material (artist logos, etc.) in our testimonials, just like the examples I gave in my original post.
I like this idea a lot, we should also show the VERY BEST of LMMS, like one song for each genre on the homepage, (not every single genre, but enough to show LMMS is good) or maybe on a page of its own.

Your "we" sounds like you done something productive for LMMS and you can call yourself a person, who develops software.

LocoMatt. ;) I understand your developer's mentality and point of view, but my "we" was referring to the numerous LMMS fans who are (silently) looking forward to seeing 1.2.0 a reality. Are you one of them too?

You mean this? https://lmms.io/showcase/

I think in terms of showcasing what LMMS users can do with the DAW, there's already a good enough amount of content. I would be cautious with the genres though, as they aren't always strictly defined, and people may disagree about which genres should be selected for a showcase.
Semantics as usual - there is a perceivable difference between "there is no release date" and "we don't have a release date" that is only exaggerated by dialects. I see both sides.

BoL does a great job of showcasing what LMMS can do, imo. I don't see a need to add "power users" to the website because 1) who would judge/control it and 2) why copy something from other daws that doesn't really accomplish a whole lot anyway? I'm probably missing the point.

My idea with the whole power users thing was based actually by expanding the effects of the Best of LMMS competitions. Essentially, everyone who was selected (excluding the honorable mentions) would be that year's power users. Essentially, it would be less a "power user" in that sense and more of a interview with that years BoL winners.
