The Sound of BRCA1 DNA

Here’s my little music project for how the breast cancer gene BRCA1 sounds using my own mapping technique. DNA codes for proteins based on the genetic code that maps a chain of three nucleotides to an amino acid. I let the beginning sequence of the DNA choose how the notes were assigned to the 20 amino acids by assigning the first notes in the order of the scale. I chose the key of D minor, because that's a sad key and cancer is sad.

I used the violin because I thought it was the saddest sounding instrument solely based on the gesture made by rubbing the thumb and forefinger together to imitate playing the world's smallest violin.

Quote from Nigel Tufnel in Spinal Tap: "It's part of a trilogy, a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why."
This is really cool!

It reminds me of a project where a team tweaked a man's hearing aids to create an audio landscape based off nearby wifi networks.
This is science, interesting
