Help for Automation Track and Filter

So I have been trying to get a underwater effect (essentially a low pass filter that starts low and rises up until it stops) by dragging a low pass filter control into the automation track. In the automation track I set it so the points start low and rise to the top. But when I play the track the low pass filter stays low, it doesn't rise. Did I forget to do something to have the rise happen? (sorry if it is hard to understand what I'm trying to say)

Ok sound good, but have you connected the dial of the filter?
The correct sequence is:
Make the notes
Place automation track (logically close to the note-track)
Point to the controller, and drag it into the automation track, so that it is 'fit' the notes.
Open the automation, ans draw the curve
