First try: Big Room track

Hello everyone,

I was kinda laking of inspiration to make a DnB track then I've decided to try something else: why not Big Room :? I tried to make something a little dark with huge kicks and bass. I also included a bunch of new samples (I finally found cool big snares and cool white noise samplers). Here are the Youtube link for the video version and the Soundcloud link:

As usual you're more than welcome to tell me what you think about it.

Cheers,

Hey, Reiodust

I enjoyed the track, it reminded me of https://soundcloud.com/t0nit0rmx/mental ... iginal-mix
I danced to your EDM. Which VSTs did you use there? are from Toni Z they are great.
But I'll say that the change of the pitch for the noisy saw synths there, wasn't a good Idea maybe change it's frequency and volume if you wanted to bring the track down and make it riser again. but thumbs up great work keep it up.

Hi,

It's a nice track. But there are some unpleasant chords you have there. I'd suggest either to change them or to make some harmonic elements that would prepare a listener for these dissonant changes.

Hi Rolivhuwa,

Thanks for your comment. Yes I know that track from Tonito rmx. He's another level compared to mine, his sounds are really amazing and they sound so professional. Concerning the VST's, I indeed used the Toni Z VST's for the lead and the saw synths + ZynAddsubFX for the bass. All percussions and effects comes from external samples pack. Concerning your your suggestion, Im not sure to understand what to mean by change the noisy saw synths frequency. Do you mean using a filter? For instance, between 1:32-1.34 when the lead is brought down Im using a lower pass filter without changing the pitch (even I confess the effect isn't as good as expected and that the automation slope can be improved). Between 1.34 and the end of the drop the lead continues with a different pitch (that's pretty common in Big Room track that the lead pitch increase at the second part of the drop that's why I did it). Does your suggestion concerns all the moments where the tracks goes down, does it concerns the second part drop, or both?

Hi scratchmatch,

thank you very much for your very important and helpful observation. Indeed, I don't really focus on theory when I produce my tracks, which is a mistake. Unfortunately, I don't know at all about music theory, especially the vocabulary (I don't even know how to make harmonic elements). I'm adding it on my to-do list.

Hey Reiodust,

I see what you were doing with drops, on both parts, I think the lead especially that nice saw, should sound like it is passing through a hollow object, like changing frequency. like how this song: https://soundcloud.com/t0nit0rmx/mental ... iginal-mix does at the beginning. please note that I also struggle with that but am just suggesting
Hi Rolivhuwa,

oh ok thanks for your clarification. Sorry I just understood what you meant. Yes I agree that indeed can be improved. I'll try to work on this.
