New to LMMS and making music in general

I love music with melancholic melody and have really gotten into Lofi over the past few years. In trying to pick up a new hobby and explore my creative side, I want to learn how to make Lo-Fi music. Downloaded LMMS to begin my journey, but honestly pretty lost. Aside from constantly listening to music, I have no other understanding of music theory or whatever. So question is, where do I start? Also, artist recommendations are appreciated. For example, I'm into BORNS, XXXTencion, Kid Cudi, Joey Pecorraro, just anyone with a sad vibe.

where do I start?

a little music-theory is a good start.
I have made a series of videos explaining the most basic:

Start from oldest:)
Of cause knowing LMMS is important
You could start with my 'rookie-guide' (signature)
I also have a playlist

Pick from it, if you have issues with a feature (or ask here :P)

Then the actual genre of EDM, low-fi
Listen to a LOT of it. Understand how the tracks you love are structured, measure the timing of lead-ins chorus breakdown drops aso. Learn how the effects are used, and what they are. That is important!
