I'm going to start posting my uploaded WIPs here to keep them all in one place.

To start off:
Dark [1]: https://clyp.it/0fi1ymbo
Dark [2]: https://clyp.it/woty1cni

Dark is the working title of my current project. The name aptly sums up the theme of the song. I'm hoping to have it fully finished in time to submit it to BoL3, but we'll just have to see about that, haha
Damn dude...I don't even know what to call that, other than awesome. I definitely got the dark vibe right from the start, and then once the drop hit...that vibe went from dark to straight up malevolent. I really liked the trap feel of the drop; it was very menacing. Kind of reminds me of Desolation VIP by Mantis, (just for the feel of the tune), but yours isn't riddim dubstep thank goodness (maybe darkstep lol, time to invent another "-step" genre). Also, if you really need to finish the project at the last minute, just combine the two. They have basically the same theme, but the variation would be cool.
Hey, thanks for the response! Those are actually from the same project - Dark [2] picks up right where Dark [1] ends. I'm mainly worried about completing the B section of the drop in [2] and piecing together a coherent ending, then full mix/master in time. Phew, lots of stuff to be doing and so little time!
Wow! Not like anything I've heard before.

Really good job on both of them. Was that 4front piano?
Very nice soundscapes! Im especially impressed by the sound depth and fullness. It would be very interesting to know the export settings?
I would also like to listen to a pre-mixing version, i think you have done marvels with eq'ing. Am i right?
Btw, do think glyp is better than soundcloud, in respect to replay quality?

Thanks guys.

I use a soundfont recorded from a Yamaha Disklavier Pro piano.

Nothing special. Depth and fullness come from good sound design, not export settings. Just like great photography comes from situational knowledge of exposure, aperture size, ISO speed, and other elements rather than just the settings of the camera on a particular shot. Regardless, here is what I typically render with for WIPs:

To some degree. Part of good design is choosing elements that fit well together in the first place. I use EQ'ing as a way to fine tune elements of the track. I do recommend using EQ as it is very important, even if it isn't a staple of my composition.

Both Clyp and Soundcloud automatically transcode uploaded files to 128kbp/s MP3. Clyp is better for sharing things quickly to people by posting the link. Think of it as Imgur for sound stuff.
Thanks for explaining. The export settings are interesting. Yours differ a lot from the settings recommended by diiz :

Could be interesting to make a comparison between them, but having a loss-export in ogg, converted to a loss-export in mp3? I must say that i have been thinking about flac, but dont even know if soundcloud support that -or glyp
Well done :)
It sounds pretty good. I like the piano and the strings :)

Clyp. Even if those sites supported FLAC, they would still stream at lossy MP3. Everything on those sites are stored and played as 128kbp/s MP3. No exceptions.

Rendering settings are up to whoever whats to do whatever. There isn't a golden rule. I happen to heavily disagree with what Diiz recommends in that post, for many, many reasons that would completely derail this thread. The TLDR: Render in 32 bit ONLY if you are going to be importing it to a DAW that supports it, so you can edit without any destruction. Otherwise, the industry standard is 16 bit integer, period. Rendering in 32 bit to get more dynamic range is just a cope out for bad mixing as a great mix will translate perfectly fine to 16 bit and NOT HAVE ARTIFACTING if/when converted to lower bitrates. Ever wonder why max settings .wav files sound like **** on SoundCloud? That is the exact reason why. Sound design and proper mixing are way more important.
