Sound messed up.

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I'm not very experienced in LMMS, so the answer might be really obvious. Sorry.
I left a project open overnight and when I got back in the morning, the sound for one of the tracks was messed up. It keeps getting louder and softer systematically and none of the other tracks are doing this. I was wondering if this was a setting I could turn off or if it was a bug with a fix, and if I can fix it, how to.
EDIT: If this helps... https://puu.sh/vrnOo/a9bddfeba1.mp4

Thank you,
Neg.

I'm not very experienced in LMMS,

Welcome! There is a rookie-guide link in my signature :)

.
That is strange, new to me.
It keeps getting louder and softer systematically and none of the other tracks are doing this.
You mean it fluctuates in volume over time? -And it did not do that before..
Rather strange i must say

I take is for granted, that you saved your project before you left the pc overnight?
I think you should use save-as (*) and save your project with a new name.
Then you should shut down LMMS and make a clean restart of your pc
Then reload the problem project and see how it is then.

In general i cant recommend using 'sleep' for pc's. Not only there is the waste of energy, but most often programs will loose handles and be much more prone to crashing after a 'sleep'

Let us know how it went
And if the problem persist
please post your:
* OS (+service-pack-version)
* lmms version
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most important)
* lmms sound device chosen
* demo mmp
* perhaps a sound-file on soundcloud or a similar service

(*) LMMS has an alternative 'Save-as-new-version' that creates a new copy of the project adding '0x' to the name. This option is valuable in version-control with roll-back possibilities.
Thank you for the response!
The volume of the track is the only thing that fluctuates, if I understand what you're getting at. When I exported the song as a .wav, it had the same problem. I don't know if that says anything...
I haven't saved it multiple times, so there's no way to rollback with other files, or so I assume.
I am about to follow your suggestion. I will also put the specs of my computer after it has restarted, except I'm not aware of what you refer to when you say OS and demo mmp, and I've forgotten how to see my ram/soundcard specs as well. I will look for it for a while.
Ew it's disgusting https://puu.sh/vrN7i/c53fc26a4a.wav

Are any of the volume controls that the instrument goes through moving on their own, including the main volume knob for the track, any FX in the FX tab, faders in the mixer (if it is routed through the mixer), or FX in the mixer (again if the instrument is run through a mixer channel)?

Cheers

I'm not aware of what you refer to when you say OS and demo mmp
OS means operative system eg: linux/ windows/ OSX + distro/version
MMP is a LMMS project-file. we need that if the reason for the anormality is in the file (i doubt that)
Stakeout mean that perhaps you accidental has made the volume automated or tied it to a LFO, but i guess its complicated to happen by accident

Do btw use an ordinary file-host like soundcloud. i clicked on your link, and got very strange replies from the server
Sorry for the late reply.
I tried the restart and nothing changed. Gah.
I haven't touched the automation during the same session I made this, so I don't think it's an automation problem.
pu.ush is pretty reliable and I've never gotten any malware, and every pu.ush I was sent was from someone I knew and trusted, so I don't know why you had a thing that happened. (I'm great with English.)
-I use Windows 10.
-I use LMMS 1.1.3
-My RAM is a 4 GB (I don't know if you need anything else...)
-I'm not sure what my soundcard is.
-Here's the mmp, (I didn't have Dropbox until now): https://www.dropbox.com/s/rd6lr656uv3tm ... .mmpz?dl=0
-and here's the sound file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/53l7lmcsbzb5o ... 1.wav?dl=0

I hope this helps a bit?
I'm about to test a few things out, wish me luck!
I feel a bit ridiculous...
All I had to do was make another track with the same instrument and copy the sections to the other track.

I still wanna know how that happened..

Nono no that is not a 'just' amd there is NO reason to feel 'a bit ridiculous.' This should not happen!

If i can open it i will try to find the answer, would preferred a mmp :)
That was easy :P
It fluctuates because you told it to :)
You have invoked the LFO (LowFrequencyOscilliator on the ENV-LFO tab,
Image

and you have defined a nice soft sine-wave to control the VOLUME setting.
You can learn more about the ENV-LFO tab here:
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=In ... .2FLFO_tab
and i also made a video about it:

Btw- do use one mixer-channel for each instrument. Sending everything directly to Master, removes a lot of great possibilities lmms offers

Well, now that I know.
Thanks. :D
