MIDI will not connect

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I got a new keyboard, and a MIDI cable, and I have it connected. I followed this tutorial: https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Us ... started.3F, and the computer registers that the keyboard is there (as USB A), and I turned out MIDI input and output, a light flashes when I give click a note on my laptop, but the sound plays on the laptop, the keyboard registers nothing, and more importantly, the computer plays no sounds and gets no input from the keyboard.

keyboard, and a MIDI cable, connected.
As: https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Us ... started.3F,
The computer registers keyboard (as USB A).
MIDI input and output, light flashes when I click a note on laptop.
sounds 100% ok!
But
keyboard registers nothing, computer plays no sounds and gets no input from the (midi) keyboard.
That is dismo drag indeed.
please post your:
* OS (+service-pack-version)
* lmms version
* lmms sound device chosen
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most important)
* Name Mark and version of MIDI-Hardware

Besides that, since you are new in Forum

I think the problem is this.
I recommend you to upgrade!

*Back-up your own stuff
*Un-install current installation
*(re)move the config dot-file
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=LM ... h_Settings
*download a fresh new installation-pack either x32 or x64 of
LMMS 1.2.0 RC7 Orange buttons!
https://lmms.io/download/#windows
Linux-users need the AppImage on the Linux-tab!
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... 4.AppImage
*re-install as administrator and grant all users access

The fault is caused by a win10 sec. update from may
Let us know the outcome :)
The issue still persists, with the same thing happening, the light will flash for output being taken, input doesn’t work, and sound will only play on the computer. And, of course, it won’t take input from my keyboard
What "MIDI cable" do you have (a link to it would be best)? How exactly is it connected? If it's the sort of thing I think then you should have the plug marked MIDI IN plugged into your keyboard's MIDI OUT socket. It seems odd but that's how it works.

Is the light that flashes in LMMS or somewhere else? Where exactly? What instrument in LMMS have you connected the MIDI input to?

You say the sound only plays on the computer. That's what is normally supposed to happen. What are you expecting? Your keyboard does not have MIDI IN it only has MIDI OUT. So it will send information TO the computer, but it can't take anything back FROM the computer.

Steve
Sorry, I should’ve clarified, I cannot use the keyboard to make sounds on the computer. However, when I connect the MIDI output (playing noises from the computer on the keyboard), a light flashes on a piece thats on the cable (the cable has a piece on it that has a few lights, one that flashes when the keyboard receives info from the computer, the other thats on when the keyboard should be giving input to the laptop).

Here is the link to the cable: https://www.amazon.com/SANOXY-Music-Key ... 2Busb&th=1

Thanks :)
In short, its basically as if the keyboard wasn’r there aside from a few flashing lights on the cable

Yes but WHICH light flashes? When you play the MK-939 it should be the one marked IN. If not, are you really sure you have the MIDI IN cable plugged into your keyboard MIDI OUT? Why not just try the other cable and see what happens.

And you still haven't said what instrument you've tried to connect the MIDI keyboard to. If you click on the gear wheel for Triple Oscillator then MIDI then Input is anything listed?

Steve
I’ve been playing the triple osc. I’ve tried using both the IN and OUT plug. The OUT light always stays on when its plugged in, IN flashes when I press a key on the computer, not the keyboard.

Thanks :)
